Marked as the 23rd Osteoporosis Day, today (20th Oct) the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) launches a year-long global campaign to raise awareness about diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis. So, how well do you know your bone, are you at the risk of developing osteoporosis?

At present, over 200 million adults suffer from osteoporosis worldwide, affecting every one in five men and one in three women. If these trends continue, then the number of victims is believed to double up in a span of five years.

What is Osteoporosis?
Your bone is composed of various minerals and tissues. In osteoporosis, the loss of these essential tissues and minerals makes the bone weak and brittle. It becomes so fragile that even the slightest amount of stress like bending, falling or coughing can trigger debilitating, life-threatening and painful fractures.
